Project Description
The DemTech Hackathon 2023, a collaborative effort by DataFest Tbilisi and the Alliance of Democracies Foundation, has successfully concluded its latest edition. Held in Tbilisi from November 9-11, the hackathon brought together a diverse community of democracy defenders, activists, and entrepreneurs committed to leveraging technology for the advancement of democracy. The theme focused on Media, Civic Engagement, and Information Integrity, challenging participants to develop innovative solutions such as interactive media platforms for citizen engagement, voter education resources, and tools to combat disinformation during elections. Selected participants received free festival access, mentorship, and the opportunity to pitch their projects to a distinguished jury. The winning team secured automatic admission to the Democracy Tech Entrepreneur Fellowship and a chance to present their solution at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit in May 2024, with additional opportunities for monetary prizes. Organized by the Alliance of Democracies Foundation and ForSet, this hackathon underscores a commitment to fostering democracy and technological innovation in the region.
